4th Technical Workshop of the APRIORI NETWORK

After more efforts and research for another 6 months, the 4th APRIORI technical workshop was successfully completed to bring together all the DCs again in Leuven, Belgium. This 5-days event was held from 15/09/2025 to 19/09/2025 by Materialise and KU Leuven collaboratively. During the event, each DC presented their recent work in front of PIs and project managers for a periodic report and to collect valuable feedback. The General Assembly/Supervisory Board meeting was organized by Hendrik Devriendt and Elke Deckers together with Silke Cleuren and Michele Pvan, where the representatives from all the academic and industrial beneficiaries were present to update the project current situation, administrative affairs, and future plan. The DCs also had an opportunity to meet the project coordinator in an indoor session to directly ask questions regarding the doctoral project face to face.

Various events were held jointly among three Horizon Europe doctoral networks including APRIORI, META VIISION and VAMOR, providing a great opportunity for DCs to communicate each other and expand their research network. Specifically, a poster session was held at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, KU Leuven as a networking event to demonstrate their research work in advanced fields including manufacturing, metamaterials, acoustics, machine learning, and deep learning.

Training activities in the first two days were held at Materialse, focusing on the advanced techniques in AM. This included a number of AM seminars on process and part modelling and design optimization, keynote talks on machine learning for smart manufacturing, and factory tours. In the following three days, soft skills courses were held at KU Leuven, including IPR management, project management, gender awareness, and research integrity.
